How to Sync Fitbit Steps to Apple Health on iPhone

Track steps with Fitbit, Pixel Watch, or another device connected to Google Health? Here's how to get that data into Apple Health — and from there, into Upkeep.

QUICK ANSWER

Open the Google Health app, go to Devices → Apps and services → Apple Health, and connect it. Allow the data types you want to share. Once connected, your Fitbit (or any device linked to Google Health) writes its steps into Apple Health automatically — and any app that reads Apple Health, including Upkeep, picks them up from there.

What You Need

An iPhone with the Google Health app installed, and your Fitbit (or other wearable) already added to your Google Health account. If your device shows up in Google Health, you're ready for the steps below.

Steps to Connect

  1. Open the Google Health app.
  2. Tap the Devices icon in the top-left corner.
  3. Tap Apps and services.
  4. Find Apple Health in the list of connections and tap it.
  5. On the “Sync your favorite apps to Google Health” screen, tap Get started.
  6. Read the permissions screen, then tap Agree. This lets Google Health send your data to Apple Health.
  7. Choose which data types to share, or tap Turn all on, then tap Allow.
  8. Once it says “Google Health is syncing,” tap Done.

Apple Health now shows Google Health as a connected source. Give it a sync cycle or two, then check Upkeep — your steps should be there.

One Thing to Know

This connection is one-way: Google Health data flows into Apple Health, not the other way around. Google doesn't clearly document whether Apple Health data flows back into Google Health, so don't rely on that direction.
